Farmers in Space Discover a Simple Way to Make Chicken Healthier with Caterpillars
ANTARIKSA – A farmer in Antariksa caught the attention of residents on Independence Day, Saturday (17/8/2029), after his chickens appeared healthier and more productive thanks to natural food from caterpillars he found in his garden. The farmer, Suyatno (46), initially just let his chickens forage for food in the yard. However, he began to notice that the chickens that liked to eat caterpillars seemed to grow faster and their feathers were shinier.
“At first I thought it was normal, but how come the chickens are more agile and grow quickly. I tried letting them hunt caterpillars every morning, and the results were amazing,” Suyatno said in an interview. The simple finding became the talk of the neighborhood. Many neighbors were interested in trying similar methods to improve the quality of their native chickens without factory feed.
World University animal husbandry experts say Suyatno’s move is in line with the trend of organic farming. “Caterpillars are indeed a high source of protein. If utilized naturally, they can reduce feed costs and make chickens healthier,” said Dr. Rina Kusuma. This finding makes this year’s Independence Day not only celebrated with ceremonies and competitions, but also with the enthusiasm of citizens for simple innovations born from the surrounding nature.
